Waverley Borough Council Beacon Hill Project
The Brief
Following a design competition at Beacon Hill School, Mzuri Design was given the challenge of changing the inspired original concept drawing, by Millie Claxton aged 7, into a workable logo for the village.
The Solution
We worked collaboratively with the team to ensure that our interpretation of Millie's excellent design concept was something that could be embraced by the village for years to come. The leaflet was designed to create a handy guide to the area, including a summary of all the businesses and a map, and featured the new identity and pictures of the village. We also translated the design into the new village sign which was unveiled at a public ceremony. The development projects were warmly received by local residents and business people and the village has had a very positive response.
The Feedback
Local community volunteer group 'Beacon Hill Focus Group' worked with Mzuri Design to help with the promotion of Beacon Hill - part of the SEEDA Project, supported by Haslemere Initiative, Surrey County Council and Waverley Borough Council. "We were impressed by Mzuri's design options and were delighted with their interpretation of the logo produced by Beacon Hill School pupil, Millie Claxton, which Mzuri produced as a new brand image for Beacon Hill. Using this logo, Mzuri managed the production of the new village sign and designed a marketing leaflet to promote local businesses. The village now has a visual identity it's proud of."
