The Brief

J L Nobbs was established in 1935 by the current owner's grandfather. Throughout this time they have been a newsagent, stationer and bookseller, although before the advent of supermarkets and the proliferation of different brands of stationery, the range of goods they stocked was much wider, including silver, luggage and household items.

The current owner Julianne Evans is passionate about carrying on the family tradition of providing a lively retail hub in Haslemere, offering a wide range of products and services and wanted a brand that matched the company's forward thinking philosophy based on a tradition of family values.

The Solution

The brand identity took Julianne and her team through an interesting journey to discover exactly the look that was right for J L Nobbs. We provided a variety of options, with large prints of the shortlisted options, so that the staff could get involved and vote for their favorites. The decision was made and we rolled out the new identity as required, including: shop front signage, staff uniforms, reward cards, gift vouchers, letterhead, compliment slips, business cards and their website.

We also work with J L Nobbs on regular promotions, helping with both the marketing planning and design implementation, ensuring not only consistency of the brand but also eye-catching designs with posters, hanging signs and leaflets as required.
